'SUPERBUG SYNDROME' is a threat of this century but most of the people are unaware about this fact as It is a silent killer or a matter of slow poisoning .I came to know about this two words when my mother got admitted in hospital as a patient of septicemia. The doctors were very worried as my mother did not response to any types of antibiotic. But fortunately or unfortunately she was not a patient of 'Superbug Syndrome'.
NOW WHAT IS 'SUPERBUG BACTERIA'????
superbugs are viral infection caused by bacteria that are resistant to common antibiotics.these are not specific types of bacteria ,all species of bacteria can turn into superbug and this is the matter of concern. The term superbug originally coined by media to describe bacteria that cannot be killed by using multiple antibiotics.
HOW IT GENERATE??????
Misusing of antibiotics such as taking them when you don't need them or not finishing all the medicine during the course and repeat this process again and again is a single leading factor contributing to this problem. In some respect we are suffering from too much of good things. There are no doubt that we have misused the modern antibiotics since they were first developed in the 1940s.
WHEN DID THIS FORM OF ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE FIRST DISCOVERED????
scientists think the colistin -resistant gene was in bacteria in livestock in China as far as back as the 1980s.reports of these bacteria in humans date back to 2008,and since have been confirmed in Asia,Europe,Canada and the United states.
FIRST CASE OF SUPERBUGS IN WORLD----
A New York city patient was infected with bacteria that had a special type of resistance to antibiotics last year, the earliest known bacteria that could lead to a superbug impervious to medication history.
GRAPHS OF SUPERBUGS INFECTED PATIENTS AND DEATHS---
each year, superbugs infected more than 2 million people and kill at least 23,000 perple in India. Not only India but some Asian countries also suffer most from antibiotic resistant strains. But other nation such as Brazil ,Greece, and South Africa have serious problem.
WHO'S VIEW ON THIS SUBJECT--
WHO has published its first ever list of antibiotic resistant 'priority pathogens' a catalogue of 12 families of bacteria that pose the greatest threat of human health. This is bad news for INDIA as most of these 12 superbugs have presence in the country.
WHAT CAN WE DO TO TURN BACK THE TIDE????
Together policies on prescribing would be a relatively simple way to help,as would controls on agricultural use of antibiotics.Meanwhile, researchers are pursuing a range of approaches.some are looking for new antibiotics or enhanced version of the ones already in use of super-drugs for superbugs.
Great! It's a complete report. Well done Sunandita.
